Policy – MU Account Retention Policy

Description

An alumnus, emeritus, or other user that has left the school needs access to a system.


Alumni

Emeriti (retired employees)

  • Misericordia University no longer provides any new retiree with email access. Retirees that have been “grandfathered” in our system are only provided with email access. Emeriti faculty are treated the same as full-time faculty with the same rights and privileges.
  • Access to other services is terminated at the time of retirement date/date of termination; or if a retiree or emeriti account has not been accessed within 6 months.

Other Users

  • Long term, students that have left the school WITHOUT graduating have access to:
    • myMU and Blackboard for 3 consecutive semesters after they stopped attending classes. (Fall/Spring/Summer).
    • Access to other services is terminated after 3 consecutive semesters of when they stopped attending classes. (Fall/Spring/Summer)
  • Long term, employees that have left the school WITHOUT retiring have access to: Nothing ( Access to other services is terminated [on the day of their last day of work].

Other situations or circumstances that cause an account to be suspended, disabled, etc.

  • Accounts may be suspended due to the exceeding number of failed attempts when entering a password.
  • Accounts may be suspended if a user changes their account password and does not update their devices with their new password for MU wi-fi and MU email.
  • Accounts may be disabled by Misericordia University if an account is believed to have been breached.
  • Accounts may be suspended or disabled in accordance with the Misericordia University policies and procedures.
